Youth and Adult Training

The Learn to Sail course is a combination of dry land instruction and water-based training. The course includes principles of sailing but also includes basic water safety. Everything from proper flotation devices to righting of capsized vessels is included. Club membership is not required.

Training

These courses are offered on Cultus Lake at the club launch location (South end of Sunnyside Blvd). Other locations will be posted when available.

Some dates are now available for 2018. See below for days and times for Kids/ Youth and Adult programs being offered. More may be added at a later date.

Also, if you have a group or a special party that would like to have a day on the water , that can also be arranged. Please contact Christine for more information.

Club membership is not required to participate in these programs, although we hope you might join us after completion.

Anyone wishing to join the Cultus Lake Sailing Club will be offered a 50% discount on Membership fees (only) if they join within 1 month of completing their course.

Youth Learn to Sail:

MOSS: (Mobil Optimist Sailing School)

This is a program run by BC Sailing where children learn the basics of sailing and Kayaking in a unique environment focusing on fun and boating safety. There are activites off and on the water to ensure everyone has a great time. The program is run by Sail Canada Certified coaches.

July 23 – 27

  • 9:00 – 3:30
  • $275. + tax (therefore total = $308)
  • Ages: 6 – 14 yr

Other course may be scheduled. If you have a youth group and you would like to have some time on the water, please contact us.

Adult Programs:

A similar course (Cansail 1) is available for adults who wish to learn how to sail. It covers Water Safety, terminology, knots and sailing skills.

Private or semi-private:

  1. Fri eve, Sat & Sun             June 22 – 24
  2. Fri eve, Sat & Sun             July 13 – 15

Schedule             Friday eve  (7:00-9:00)

                                Saturday & Sunday (9:00 – 5:00)

Cost:                      $385.00 (non-members) + $350.00 (members)

Small Class Evening Course (Max 6 students)

Schedule:            Tues + Thurs evenings, July 3, 5, 10 + 12        6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Cost:                      $265.00 (non-members) + $240.00 (members)
